“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22
How often do you treat yourself?
I treat myself to a cup of Starbucks (white chocolate mocha, grande, hot sometimes an extra shot of caffeine ) every Friday morning before work, total cost $5.00. I do this because it’s what I like and it brings me joy, it brings me peace, and it brings me happiness. I love Starbucks. I call it happiness in a cup.
In life it’s very important to know what brings you joy, peace, and happiness. It’s equally important that you treat and reward yourself, because you deserve it! Always remember, you deserve to be happy. If you don’t treat yourself, you become exhausted and drained. Life is meant to be enjoyed.
Life and people can drain you, if you allow it. So you must take care of you. Self care is essential to a good quality of life. As long as you live, you should treat yourself. I read somewhere that you should treat yourself everyday. I think I will start that. For me, I have always done it on a weekly basis.
People often think that when you treat yourself, it has to be something grand or expensive. Treating yourself, can be as simple as treating yourself to your favorite meal, a visit to the museum, walk-in the park, maybe buying a new pair of shoes, or something as simple as a cup of coffee.
We are religious in going to work, try to be religious in treating yourself and see how good you feel. I find it very rewarding, and it’s good for my mental space. Be responsible for your own happiness and peace.
As you grow older, we can’t depend on no one to make us happy but ourselves. Because how we treat ourselves, is the blue print to how others treat us. When you start to realize, the importance of yourself, you will start to treat yourself.
For me, investing in that $5.00 cup of coffee is the more rewarding than my 401k. Comment below and tell me the last time you rewarded or treated yourself!
