Lost in Bahamas ~Travel Thursday

The Commonwealth of the Bahamas is country located 50 miles from Florida. It is located in the Atlantic Ocean and consist of 700 islands of which 30 are in inhabited. The most popular islands are Nassau, Free Port, Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island, Blue Lagoon, Exumas, and others listed on the sign below.

The Bahamas is a very special place to me because my mother always wanted to visit, although she never did. When I finally did travel to the Bahamas it was in her honor. I just looked in the sky, I thanked God, and I said “Mom this is for you.“

This was another port destination from a cruise, so I had one beautiful day to enjoy the island of Nassau.

Bahamas is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The islands are quirky and quaint. The people who live on the island are very warm and welcoming. Believe it or not, I toured the island alone because my friend, didn’t want to leave the cruise early.

While I was in the Bahamas, I was able to check one thing off my bucket list and that was to kiss a dolphin. I went to a very popular place called Dolphins Encounters located on Blue Lagoon Island.

I finally got my experience to encounter with the dolphins. This is something I always wanted to do and it did not disappoint. The trainers was awesome and you can tell they loved and cared for the dolphins which meant a lot to me. The dolphins are so intelligent and cute. And you wouldn’t believe the dolphins name. His name was “Shawn.” So we had a special connection.

When Shawn Meets Shawn
Shawn ❤️’s Shawn

After my amazing experience at dolphin encounters I hung out on the island until my ferry came to take me back to the port. I relaxed on the beach and I took many Instagram worthy pictures.

So then it all went downhill , when I attempted to float on the little yellow float below but got scared when I started actually floating. I started screaming when the beach attendant pushed me away because I can’t swim. He said Mam, you are not 3 inches in the water and you are screaming. The attendants laughed. I was happy when he pushed me back to shore from my 30 second scare. I just asked him to take my pic.

I used the remainder of my time to eat and drink at the restaurant on site while waiting for my ferry. The drinks and food was amazing.

After hanging out on Blue Lagoon, I headed back to Nassau, where I shopped at the market. I got these fly glasses, and some souvenirs.

I hung out at Senor Frogs – sat high on my thrown, and enjoyed the day.

I visited the local beach, Junkanoo Beach which was a few minute walk from the cruise ship dock. There were lots of vendors. I loved interacting with the local islanders. They were all so talented with creating beautiful arts and crafts.

I was lost in the Bahamas! The buildings we’re bright, the people were fun, and the water was crystal clear. Not to mention the food was great. I had no complaints. I will definitely be back again for a longer stay.

  1. Sounds like you had an amazing time! Great pictures. Sweet of you to do that for your Mom. I’m sure she was smiling from Heaven. I visited The Bahamas 12 years ago I think. It was absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing 🌻🦋❤
