Everyone is complaining about social distancing by why?
Social distancing does not mean social isolation. According to John Hopkins University, “Social distancing is a public health practice that aims to prevent sick people from coming in close contact with healthy people in order to reduce opportunities for disease transmission. It is imperative to understand that social distancing is needed at this time.” It is needed right now to protect your health and others, slow the spread of the virus, and flatten the curve of the current pandemic of COVID19.
Maintaining social distancing is prevention.
I would encourage people to stop using the term “social distancing” in a pessimistic way, as it could be detrimental for your mental health causing anxiety, stress, and depression. Regardless of what you are facing in life; you always want to remain positive. Negative thoughts can lead to negative actions and views on life.
When you hear the word distance, you automatically think of separation and isolation. Keep in mind social distancing is just for 15 days. Social distancing right now is needed for the greater good for all humanity.
Although, there is a lot of uncertainty, you are doing your part if you are:
- Washing your hands frequently
- Maintaining self-distance and
- being responsible to slow the spread.
Be optimistic about this temporary situation. There are so many things that you can do while you are practicing self-distancing, as one day life will gain its normalcy.
WHAT YOU CAN DO WHILE SELF DISTANCING:
- Meditate and clear your mind.
- Focus on a self-care routine.
- Find interest in a new hobby.
- Spring clean.
- De-clutter your space.
- Read a new book.
- Watch a movie or documentary.
- Complete an unfinished task in your home.
- Write a book.
- Research ideas for a new business endeavor.
- Write your business plan.
- Create a YouTube channel.
- Or start a Blog.
- Video Call Family and Friends.
- Watch free online concerts by your favorite artist.
- Most importantly enjoy your HOME!
I challenge you to find the positive! If you can telework that is blessing as many people don’t have that option and are unemployed right now because of the pandemic. You can drive and not have to deal with traffic. There are no crowds at the grocery store. Right now, you are only missing the human interaction of going out and comradery. Travel restrictions are in place but is needed to slow the curve. The only thing people are missing right now are sport events, going to the movies in the cinema, dining in at restaurants, socializing at bars and night clubs, and everyday normal interactions that we all have taken for granted.
TRUST EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON
Now is the time for you to regroup and refocus.
You are not isolated, and you are not alone. Take this time of social distancing to find a positive view on life. Spend quality time with your family if you can. I hope during this time, everyone learns to appreciate the things you have. Most people don’t appreciate something until its gone. So, it’s a gentle reminder for us to always appreciate everyone and everything that we have in our life.
Conversations will not be cancelled. Relationships will not be cancelled. Love will not be canceled. Music will not be canceled. Reading will not be canceled. Self- Care will not be cancelled. Hope will not be canceled.
May we lean on all the good stuff that remains!Unknown
